Messmate bed side table with drawer. Messmate is a Eucalypt from the cooler Australian states that is that is more highly figured and character filled than the other commonly used local hardwood Tasmanian Oak. It has frequent sap lines, knots and fiddleback to create a very dramatic look. This wood has more brown tones in comparison the the pinker hues of Tasmanian Oak. This bed side table has been constructed from one piece of wood and has been cut and joined using the process called 'waterfalling'. This technique makes continuous lines of grain and sap at each of the joins to give an impression that the timber has been folded into shape.
